Bathroom Tap Finishes: How to Match Colours and Order the Right Reference

Compare polished and brushed finishes, coordinate taps with accessories, and check exact finish codes before ordering your bathroom fittings.

Overview

Compare polished and brushed finishes, coordinate taps with accessories, and check exact finish codes before ordering your bathroom fittings.

A finish name is a starting point, not a complete product specification. Two fittings described as brushed gold may look different in the same bathroom, while one mixer design can have several order references with different prices. Before choosing bathroom taps for a home or project in Egypt, build a finish schedule alongside the product list. This guide explains what to compare and what to confirm before an order is approved.

Separate Colour, Texture and Product Reference

Record the manufacturer, collection, full article number and official finish name for each item. Colour describes only part of the result: a polished surface reflects light differently from a brushed or matt surface. Do not assume that a similar colour name identifies the same material or coating process across brands. Where the specification names a process such as PVD, check that information for the exact reference rather than applying it to the entire collection.

Compare Samples in the Actual Room Lighting

Use product photographs to shortlist options, then request a physical sample or view the finish in a showroom where possible. Compare it beside the selected tile, stone, basin and cabinet. Look at the same sample under the planned bathroom lighting as well as daylight. A screen image or a small digital swatch cannot confirm an exact colour match, especially when the product page uses a general model photograph for several finishes.

Coordinate More Than the Basin Mixer

Include the shower controls, shower head, bath filler, waste cover, towel rail, hooks and visible flush plate in the schedule. Not every component is offered in every finish. Decide which visible items must match and where a deliberate contrast is acceptable. When mixing brands, approve samples together instead of ordering every item under a shared label such as bronze or black.

Read Care Instructions Before Choosing

Care requirements belong in the selection decision, particularly in frequently used bathrooms. Dornbracht's care guide calls for a soft cotton or suitable polishing cloth and warns against abrasive cleaning products; it also gives additional instructions for different finish groups. Use the current instructions for the chosen manufacturer and surface. Do not transfer a cleaning chemical or routine from another tap simply because the colours appear similar.

Approve a Finish-Specific Quotation

Ask for a quotation listing the complete code, finish, quantity, included parts and separately required components for every item. Check the selected reference on the product page before comparing prices: a price for the chrome version is not a quotation for another finish. Confirm currency, tax treatment, delivery and local availability with the sales team. Save the approved schedule so replacements and later additions can be checked against the original order.
